OUR ADVENTURE WITH COLD

History of the creation of TUMMO

Our fascination with the cold began more than 30 years ago. It was the time when a friend of mine, with whom I trained combat sports, decided to prepare himself for swimming in the icebreak. His goal was to adapt his body to the extremely low temperatures – in winter the air temperature there dropped as low as -30°C. He hardened himself throughout the year by bathing only in cold water, sleeping by an open window and wearing short shorts in winter. When he decided he was ready, he called me to ask me to belay him during his first bath in the ice hole.

The sun was shining strongly that day, but the temperature was about -25°C. We drove to a nearby lake, where we carved out the ice hole together. After warming up, my friend plunged into the icy water. Looking at him, I felt a sudden impulse – despite my fear and doubts, without hesitation I stripped down and jumped into the ice break. The ejection of endorphins was enormous. We laughed until we burst into laughter at the time, and I realized that this moment started my passion for ice baths.

Since then, the cold has repeatedly come to my aid, becoming a reliable support in the most difficult moments. When you enter the icy water, the mind perceives it as a threat to life – all the problems of everyday life then lose their meaning All that matters is the present moment and deep contact with yourself. This state and the accompanying ejection of endorphins is addictive for life, bringing an inner peace that nothing from the outside can disturb.

The biggest difficulty for me was that I could not enjoy the benefits of the cold during the summer. So I dreamed of a year-round ice bath that would allow me to take full advantage of this powerful force of nature. And then I met Adam and Bartek.

Together we were able to create TUMMO – a name we took from the Buddhist practice of “inner fire”, practiced in extreme conditions, on snow or in icy water.

Our ice bath and inner fire practice, called “wild, angry energy” in Tibetan, are the foundation of TUMMO. The goal of this meditation is to experience deep bliss and emptiness – inner peace, and the heat that envelops the body during the practice is only a side effect. It is this experience and its extraordinary effects that we want to offer to our customers through our devices. TUMMO is not just technology, it is first and foremost the art of immersing oneself in the powerful force of cold and discovering one’s own inner power.

We invite you to discover cold together.
